SA- Hello.

BK- Hi there. Is this Lake County VetZ?

SA- Yes it is.

BK- Is this Stan Adler?

SA- Yes it is.

BK- Hi Stan. This is Beau Krafft. I spoke to you about a week ago.

SA- Yeah.

BK- From Fort Wayne, Indiana.

SA- Yeah.

BK- The reason I'm calling is I wanted to know if you were going to be sending me any information out. I haven't gotten any from you.

SA- OOOH! I guess right after we talked that day in fact the day we talked I went out and mailed it out to you (pause) You should've had it.

BK- OH...Hum...No, I haven't gotten anything. Um...Would that have been regular mail?

SA- Regular mail, yeah.

BK- Regular envelope and all that?

SA- Uh Huh. Yeah I would have thought you would've had that a long time ago. It should've taken a couple of days I would think to get to Indiana.

BK- (Laughing) Well, you never know. I mailed a piece off to my brother once and he was already here to visit me and back and then he got home and it showed up. (both laughing) So, it was like 10 days later and he finally got it...

SA- (Laughing) Uh Huh.

BK- ...I will look for it, OK?

SA- If you don't get it in the next day or so, let me know and I'll throw something like that together. As a matter of fact, I'll go down to the office...

BK- Well, I appreciate it, it's just that I hadn't heard from you. I'd been out of town last weekend and I was seriously thinking about going up to Waukegan last weekend, just to see the structure and when I had mentioned it to you, it didn't seem like it was going to be a big problem. Is that a problem at all to say, if someone stops by the shop to take a look at it?

SA- No. I can show you some samples of it. But, it's in Wichita, Kansas right now.

BK- Oh yeah, that's right. You did tell me it was going to be in Wichita, oh okay, yeah. Is it going to be in Chicago anytime? Because I usually go to Chicago during the Summer.

SA- It's going to be in Chicago in June for the 10th reunion of the Welcome Home Parade?

BK- OH, in June, Okay, alright. Well, I'll tell you what, I'll just wait till I get the information from you.

SA- Okay. If nothing else, I'll just send something in the mail...uh

BK- I think if you gave it to someone else to mail for you...

SA- No, I did. I mailed it. I think Jim even drew some sketches up. He threw some sketches together that I thought would get to you by now.

BK- You know what...Let me ask you this...Do you do the etching right there in your office?

SA- Yeah...No...No, it's done in Zion. Our office doesn't handle that.

BK- What is Zion?

SA- It's another city.

BK- In Illinois?

SA- Yeah.

BK- I guess that I just thought that you did it there...

SA- Oh no. No, our office handles the paperwork.

BK- Is Jan Scruggs...is he associated with your organization?

SA- (Sheepishly) Uh Huh.

BK- Ah, well this IS interesting, because...uh...I just know that the Memorial that they did in Washington, D.C...You know he raised the money to get that together and...uh...I just didn't know if he had any connection at all with your "Wall", at all.

SA- Actually, he's an Advisor on our Board.

BK- Oh, Okay. Did you approach him? Or, did he approach you?

SA- No. We approached him.

BK- Okay. You know we're just trying to do the best we can to get as many contacts as possible because I'm assuming that this is not going to be an inexpensive project, but we'll do what we can. You said it took you 6 years?

SA- Well yeah. But, you know, we're not doing it on the kind of scale that you're talking about when you're doing something on a civic...you know...on a community-type thing, you know people pull together real quick...people pull together you know for their own community.

BK- That's true, that's true. Now, when you were putting this "Wall" together, you said you had a mock-up...was it?

SA- (Sheepishly) Yeah...

BK- Did people respond to that real well? You know what I mean?

SA- Yeah. People like to know what they're donating to.

BK- Right.

SA- You know, some small sample. Something like that.

BK- You say you're building one for Washington, D.C.?

SA- No. (Strongly suggesting) We're making another half scale replica.

BK- And that's to be traveled around with?

SA- Yeah. I think they're going to use it to display.

BK- It's not in conflict with yours, then?

SA- No! (Adamantly) There's another one in California. One "Wall" can't sufficiently handle the requests. I'm sure that not 5 or 6 or 7 would not be in conflict. The guy who originally came up with the half scale replica isn't happy. But, he does this for a living, but he's booked all the time, but there's plenty of "stuff" for everybody.

BK- But, you guys serve the homeless vets?

SA- Right.

BK- But, do you serve homeless vets throughout the country?

SA- No. We don't make enough money to do that - we try to concentrate on Lake County. It's not that big a money maker.

BK- I'm assuming that there were expenses you pay first, then, whatever is left over...

SA- We don't have that much in expenses. If somebody's in a bind, we try to help them out.

BK- Right, right. Well...So Stan, if we contracted your company then, to do our Memorial...um...you said that there is now some place in Zion...they're also Lake County VetZ?

SA- Yeah. We do all the work through our office.

BK- So, this laser engraving...whatever this is...whatever we would have done...you'd still be the ones that we would contract with? We would do all the work through your office?

SA- Right.

BK- Okay. That's why I wanted to make sure...cause I didn't want to have to go through...you know, 10 people...

SA- Yeah. You know we handle EVERYTHING there.

BK- Okay, great!. Well, I'll just wait for the stuff in the mail from you. One way or another, when I get it, I'll give you a buzz back. Alright? Okay Stan, thanks a lot.

SA- Okay. Sounds good.

BK- Have a good weekend.

SA- You too.

BK- Bye.
